Rotary provides education, immunizations, birth kits, and mobile health clinics. Women are taught how to prevent mother-to-infant HIV transmission, how to breast-feed, and how to protect themselves and their children from disease
Women's and Children's Hospital
Mitcham Rotary Club was keen to undertake a new major project to follow on from the financial support of a young Cambodian boy who needed a facial reconstruction and orthopaedic shoes. The Women's and Children's Hospital (WCH) suggested subsidising the refurbishment of an Orthopaedic Ward to the tune of $100,000. Led by Geoff Bailey of the Mitcham Rotary Club and Peter Rostron of the Tea Tree Gully Club, the funding was raised with 11 months. Ultimately, the money was used to refurbish and equip a Rehabilitation Facility at the WCH.
